OMAN MUSANDAM TRIP – 3rd-5th October 2019

The two Musandam trips I ran last year proved very popular, I have now secured some reserved spaces on the May trip.

This is an exciting dive trip to do a Dhow liveaboard trip on the Musandam Peninsular – in Oman.  Diving with Sheesa Beach Dhow Cruises.    You can see the boat I have arranged below along with the on-board accommodation.  Also see the videos of the last two trips for a flavour of the awesome diving.

November –  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v38DZpEsj3Q

December – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cMcOEeuBUdw

Please email me if you are interested and I will put you on the interest list and keep you posted on plans – at this stage there is no commitment until we need to take deposits.

The Musandam is the small part of Oman that sits atop the UAE, separated from the main body of Oman. It juts out into the Strait of Hormuz and is home to some spectacular remote diving.

In summary the trip is as follows:

Thursday lunchtime – fly to Dubai (arrange our own flights with Saudia – about £220) arrive Dubai at around 3pm – pre-arranged 2-3hr minibus transfer to Dibba and then get on the boat which leaves at 8pm.  Thursday night steam up to the dive sites and then 2 days diving (6 dives), fully catered aboard their Dhow.

Price will be around £450 all in for the boat, 6 dives with Nitrox, food, drink and airport transfers. (flights and visas are extra – Omani visas cost £10 – all this subject to exchange rates of course).  I have negotiated a discount based on a minimum of 5 people going on the trip.   If we get a full boat I may be able to negotiate a further discount.

This looks like being a superb trip in the high energy waters of the Musandam.  Large pelagics are a possibility as is some stunning above water and underwater scenery as well as the opportunity for a drift dive.  You can see the Mola Mola and the Whaleshark we saw on the December trip on the video.

The trip includes sharing a twin bunk room, 2 nights and 2 days liveaboard safari on board the YAS A/C Triple Deck Dhow (as in the photo above), buffet meals, fruits, biscuits, water, fruit juice, soft drinks, tea, coffee and complimentary use of their towels, kayaks and banana boat. Also includes 6 dives.

This dhow has 16 single beds in 8 A/C cabins (2 beds in each cabin) with in-room showers, an A/C saloon, Arabic seating, sun loungers and an on-board diving compressor.

The Dhow will go Thursday evening (8:00pm departure-latest) up north to the Musandam peninsula (Sheesa Bay) and will come back slowly on Friday to the Lima area. This plan can of course change due to weather. Dhow will be back to port Saturday between 4:00pm to 5:00pm whereaopn we will get a transfer to the airport.

To secure your place on this trip I will need you to send me an email – confirming your interest.    Once we have sorted the numbers, I will need a deposit of 800 SAR (Ideally UK bank transfer as £160 ).  Deposits are refundable up to 30 days before the trip – although be aware if you drop out you will need to find someone else to fill our place or  you may have to pay a surcharge if numbers fall below the numbers needed to get the discount.

If you are interested, then please send me an email and I will advise bank details for the deposit in due course
