Crossing to BSAC from other agencies

ECSAC has a great deal to offer divers who are already qualified, we are a very active club, with lots of facilities and a great programme of diving and expeditions as well as facilities that will leave many professional outfits envious.

You can join our club and cross-over with your existing dive qualifications, without the need for complex cross-over training.  You also get to join our trips, you get access to our great facilities as well as free air fills and Nitrox and Trimix at cost.

The graphic on the left shows which grades are equivalent to the BSAC Grades. You can click on it for the larger version.

You are welcome to dive with us under your current qualifications, we will be happy to cover off some of the differences between your existing agency and BSAC – for example there are some differences in the rescue techniques and in the dive tables.  With a short overview you will be familiar with how we do things and so won’t find things confusing when you join us on our trips.

If you are interested in progressing your diving then we would be happy to give you a crossover pack that will lead you into the next diving grade and we can arrange all the necessary training to make that happen.

In addition to dive training many people join ECSAC to extend their skills beyond just diving as we are able to offer training on boat handling, compressor operation and many other skills like Chartwork, First Aid etc.

We can support your training all the way up to First Class Diver, BSAC’s highest qualification level and have regular sessions covering components of all the BSAC Diver Grades.

Further Training

With East Cheshire Sub Aqua club you can progress from Ocean Diver to Sports Diver, Dive leader and Advanced Diver, we can even support you up to the heady heights of First Class Diver if you wish. The club can provide much of the training and support that you need to progress as far as you want.

Click on the poster on the left for full details of BSAC’s diver grades and the route to becoming an instructor.

If you wish we can also train you in deeper technical diving and take you from Ocean Diver right through to 80 meter Hypoxic Trimix Diving.

You can even take the step to becoming an Open Water Instructor, anyone who is a Sports Diver or above can take the Instructor Foundation Course and become an Assistant Instructor.  From there it is a matter of practicing and developing your skills and then attending the Open Water Instructor Course and then the Practical and Theory Instructor Exams.

There are also great benefits of joining BSAC, our national governing body:

Diving with a BSAC club is one of the most cost effective ways to further your diver training as well as to dive regularly.

A great social life! BSAC divers are a sociable bunch and the topside social activities just enhance the whole club and diving experience. In short, you get a ready-made group of divers to go diving with, regular dive trips and training opportunities and a whole group of new friends.

BSAC diver training includes modules that would be a paid for separate speciality courses with other agencies.

An already qualified diver coming into BSAC can access many of these training modules – such as nitrox, rescue skills and drysuit diving – for free with their BSAC club as part of their membership, if they have not been included in their training to-date.

BSAC provides a full range of Skill Development Courses (SDCs) which are great value for money. Whether a diver’s focus is on core skills, technical, seamanship, wrecks, underwater photography or marine life, BSAC has a course to match. For a full list of SDCs and prices go to bsac.com/skilldevelopment

Access to a wide range of in-club skills, knowledge and experience among your fellow club members as well as training guidance and advice from BSAC HQ.

As a BSAC member, they are entitled to the full range of benefits, including third party liability insurance and monthly issues of SCUBA magazine.

They can also make the most of the BSAC Benefits package, including savings on diving holidays.
