Bridlington - 20th - 21st June 2020
Unfortunately due to the current Covid-19 pandemic, Bridlington has been put on hold for now

Pat Spencer and Phil Darlington are running a single boat exploratory RHIB trip to Bridlington to dive a couple of wrecks in the 30-35m region, hopefully Ocean Liner MS Pilsudski. The wreck is around 35 miles from the launch site, a 2 ½ hr motor each way.

We are limiting it to a single boat of 6 divers. Because of the distance we have to travel the weight on board is an important factor trip. Due to the distance from support or assistance the trip is limited to Experienced Sports Dive Leader who have completed their depth progression. These are unconfirmed marks so we can’t guarantee the wreck is where we think it is or that we have slack water correct although we are reasonably confident about both. Time and Tide limit us to a single dive each day, if we make it out to MS Pilsudski it will be a long and busy day, expect early starts to catch the tide and 5:00pm – 6:00pm finishes.

It will be a long day offshore. Rhib toilet facilities will be a bucket with toilet seat fitted. You’ll need to take your own lunch and drinks.

Costs for the tow fees, boat fuel and tractor launch are expected to be circa £70 – £80 per diver for the weekend. If we don’t make it out to the MV Pilsudski the boat fuel costs would reduce. Accommodation will be reserved for an additional cost circa £75:00 (£37:50 per person per night) at The Lobster Pot – Marsden Inn Hotel, Bridlington, 15 miles from the launch site.  Arriving Friday Night – Departing Sunday Morning. If the weather forecast or other factors mean we can’t get to MS Pilsudski we’ll choose alternative dive sites. We have marks for 130 wrecks in the Bridlington Bay including two submarines.

Qualification: Experienced Sports Divers who have completed their depth progression

ECSAC Summer BBQ - 4th - 5th July 2020

The club is returning to Anglesey for another weekend of diving, snorkelling, socialising and eating!

The diving will be organised by Helen Hamer and Jon Green, whilst the snorkelling will be organised by Dave Grindrod.

The Social committee have booked the BBQ to take place on Saturday 4th July in the Anglesey Outdoors Party Yurt.  This will be £10 per person for the BBQ food which includes dessert. Scrummy!

We have reserved the Ty Penn Annex at Anglesey Outdoors which sleeps a maximum of 10.  This will cost £36 per person for the two nights (Friday 3rd and Saturday 4th of July).
Should you wish to book your own accommodation there are a few options left at Anglesey Outdoors which can be found here, or you may look elsewhere.

Last year this proved to be a great event with many coming along even just for the day.

There is an interest list up at the club, please put your name down or let Alison or Jo know.

Tyneside / South Shields - 15th - 16th August 2020

Pat and Phil have organised a trip to Tyneside staying in the Little Haven Hotel, launching from the Council owned slip next to it.  They intend to dive 3 wrecks, Oslofjord, Eston and another TBC, (2 Saturday and 2 Sunday). They’ll dive the Oslofjord twice as the non-tidal dive, this is as it’s big enough to have 2 different dives. The slack timing may mean reasonably early starts, and they will come back to the hotel between dives. The marks for the location of the Eston and other are unconfirmed meaning we can’t guarantee they are there or what condition they are in, this is the nature of expedition diving and adds to the excitement. The two wrecks will be between 25m – 35m and Oslojford is at 15m.

Costs are expected to be around £155 per person for the 3 days (excluding lunch and evening meals).
This is made up from: Tow fee & Boat Fuel £73, Accommodation £82 (£41 per person per night inc Breakfast), the boat fuel costs will reduce if we can’t make it to the MS Pilsudski.

Qualification: Experienced Sports Diver with completed depth progression and above

The Norfolk Chalk Reef (Trimingham) - 11th - 12th September 2020

Qualification: Ocean Diver (must be comfortable with gentle drift diving) or above

Following a request from Helen Hamer, Pat Spencer and Phil Darlington (assisted by Tim Porter) are planning a dive weekend on the Norfolk Chalk Reefs. The Cromer Shoals Chalk Bed was created when dinosaurs ruled the earth and has been found to be the longest in the world. At over 20 miles long the 100-million-year-old reef is one-and-a-half times longer than the Thanet Coast chalk reef in Kent, the former record holder. We intend to dive the section between Cromer and Trimingham.

This will be a club Rhib trip for a single boat as launching on the Norfolk coast can be challenging often requiring two 4×4 per boat, also the lodge accommodation are 6 bed lodges.  We’ll share the coxing so everyone will be able to dive and explore the chalk reefs. Two scenic dives per day around 10m – 15m. One of the dives each day will be a drift dive.
