The Club was formed in 1960 making it one of the oldest sports diving clubs in the UK and forms part of the British Sub Aqua Association of Clubs. We are one of the oldest BSAC clubs and one of the largest in the North West.<\/p>\n

We have our own purpose built club house, boat room, two boats, a compressor with gas blending facilities, training kit and fully licensed bar! Your membership entitles you to use these fantastic facilities and your air fills are also free. We also provide Nitrox and Trimix at very low cost as we simply pass on the cost of these to our members and do not seek to make any profit.<\/p>\n

We offer a wide selection of training, regularly delivering Skill Development Courses (equivalent to PADI Specialties) as well as the full BSAC Diver Training Programme.  We host BSAC regional events, including instructor training, first aid courses and compressor operator and mixed gas blender courses.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

If it\u2019s scenic or wreck diving, shallow or deep, with a club of well over 100 members you can be sure to find like minded people who will be happy to join you, we organise over 1000 dives per year so there will always be plenty of trips available and don\u2019t forget diving isn\u2019t just about the diving, we regularly organise social events as well and we invite other local clubs along to many of them!<\/p>

From the Orkney’s to the Isles of Scilly the club has dived many of the most amazing sites in and around the UK.\u00a0 Further afield we have braved the depths of Egypt, The Azores, Malta, Norway, Iceland, Spain, Oman and The Maldvies.<\/p>

The club has won numerous awards over the years including the much sought after Heinke Trophy.\u00a0 This trophy is awarded to the BSAC club that is considered to have done the most to further the interests of its members and of BSAC.<\/p>

The key to our Heinke Trophy success was the build of the Scuba Training platform we built into Salford Quays situated in the St Peter Basin in 6m of water.\u00a0 Anyone can use this platform and the guide can be found\u00a0here<\/a>.<\/p>

In 2017 we were awarded the Duke of Edinburgh Jubilee Trust award.\u00a0 When he was President of the British Sub Aqua Club the Duke offered this annual prize for the best underwater scientific project carried out by members. This is now the premier award made by the British Sub-Aqua Club. By agreement with the Club the Jubilee Trust administers the Prize.\u00a0 Applications are sent to the Trust and the Trustees who represent a wide range of scientific expertise, select a short-list and submit these to the Duke for his final selection \u2013 the Jubilee Trust actually put Project Highball forward themselves.<\/p>

We were also awarded the Peter Small Jubilee Trust award for Project Highball.\u00a0 This particular trophy is awarded to the most worthwhile and ambitious BSAC project conducted in British waters.<\/p>

We have also been awarded Snorkelling club of the year, and been given the Sport England small grant award.\u00a0 The club is now working towards making our diving accessible for all by running the BSAC “Diving for All” programme.\u00a0 More information can be found\u00a0here.<\/a><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
