Anglesey BBQ and Dive weekend April 30th - May 2nd 2022

Mark and Anna are organising the big Anglesey Diving and BBQ weekend for the first May Bank Holiday weekend next year.  Mark sent through the following:

“This is a beginning of the season dive open to any level of diver. The aim is to get people back in the sea after Covid restrictions and the winter diving in the exciting environs of Capernwray etc. It is a chance to have a dive off a boat, try out new equipment or have that first ever sea dive (we have all been there – the water may be cold but the company will be warm and supportive). The weekend is planned for all 3 days of the bank holiday but don’t feel you are obliged to come for all 3 days, if you can only make one or two days then come along (though please do let us know as it is difficult enough to plan these weekends without people randomly turning up).

The type of diving will be adjusted to fit who comes along, ie if we only get crusty old divers we will be only diving easy stuff as everyone knows you aren’t up to much else (you know who you are J). Seriously though, it is a springs weekend so there will be little chance to dive tide dependent locations. That will, in all likelihood, rule out any bigger wrecks and the more recently investigated pinnacles, but it does depend on who wants to go. As the aim is to be open to all levels we will most likely be diving sites like the Beacons or the Missouri etc, or similar on the north side. Instructors please come along and support those wishing to progress. I hope our more experienced divers will all turn out to support the weekend and pass on that wealth of knowledge.

Assuming we get enough interest we are hoping to take both boats. If anyone who can tow could let us know that would be much appreciated. We already have one kind offer but the more people who can help the better. Depending on availability of boats and the numbers, we may have to dive in waves. Don’t worry you will get a dive irrespective of numbers.

Accommodation: The Sea Cadet bunkhouse has been booked for the weekend and more details on the costs etc will be worked out nearer the time. However, with Covid causing many people to choose to holiday in the UK accommodation is quickly being booked up. There were still camping spaces at some locations and a number of hotels still had rooms but people may need to be quick if they don’t fancy the bunk house.

Finally we intend to also run a social event over the weekend with a BBQ event being held on either the Saturday or Sunday evening. This is work in progress and more details will be provided as we get closer to the event.”

A list is up at the club but please feel free to contact either Anna or Mark to sign up, offer towing or ask questions!
