ECSAC's Food Bank Collection - Winter 2022
Following a suggestion from Loz Broome that the Club might support people in need this winter, Hannah Rennie contacted the local charity, Silklife Foodbank, and set up a food collection point at the Club.
Thank you to everyone who has been so generous in donating items to the Club’s newly installed food bank. Hannah was able to visit the Silklife Foodbank to drop off our very first donation at the end of October. Photos show an aerial view of operations, our donation box being emptied and sorted, the vault to store donations and a care bag for a family containing hygiene and self-care products.
The collection was received with much thanks and Hannah was provided with a tour of the operations, first setup in 2012. Today, the food bank offers emergency food boxes with five days’ supply of non-perishable goods for individuals with a referral from front-line support and care agencies within the area.
The charity tries to provide a Christmas food parcel to those in need, from donations to the Reverse Advent Calendar. Thanks to the generosity of members, Hannah has made another couple of deliveries, which were gratefully received. We will continue to collect items over the winter so please drop off anything you can spare in the collection box.
