Wreck Diving in the Farne Islands : 1st - 2nd July 2023

Jo Watson & Rosy Rudd are planning a trip to the Farne Islands for some wreck diving on 1st and 2nd July 2023.

We will be diving with Andy from Sovereign Diving. The water around the Farnes and the surrounding coastline is among the clearest in the country and offers superb diving for all. There are several wrecks which we may be able to dive, depending on the weather and tidal conditions. These include:

Blue Caps East End – Ships – HOPE 1809, SISTER 1832, VAGEN 1916 and MONKWEARMOUTH 1823.

Longstone Ends – Steamship CHRIS CHRISTENSEN 1915.

Knifestone – German Steamship THE ABESSINIA 1921.

Callers – British Steamship THE BRITTANIA 1915.

Beadnell Point –  French Frigate THE SOMALI 1941.

As some of these wrecks are at 35m, this trip is for Sports Diver grade (with depth progression) and above, and you must be able to deploy a DSMB without faff.

Accommodation : We have provisionally booked in at the The Joiner’s Shop Bunkhouse at Chathill NE67 5ES which is a 15 minute drive to Seahouses Harbour. This is self catering with kitchen facilities. They have said we are welcome to have a BBQ on the Saturday evening.
