Thames Boat Run 2023 - Saturday 14th October

Paul is running this as part of a BSAC organised trip along the Thames into the centre of London and will be lead cox as well as towing the Club boat Top Cat.  He will be staying overnight in a local Travel Lodge on Friday night and possibly Saturday.

This expedition was planned 2 years ago but cancelled because of Covid so there are already 4 possibly 5 on the list, there is a limit of 9. The cost will be for fuel and towing possibly £20 -£30 per head, £60 has already been paid as the donation to the RNLI.

You would be responsible for accommodation but we’ll work together on this.

The launch site will be Erith Yacht Club https://erithyachtclub.org.uk/and and the route will be up to Tower Lifeboat Station at Waterloo Bridge and back of course. We will go through the much publicised Thames Barrier and take in Greenwich, Canary Wharf, Excel, O2 Area, Globe Theatre, Cutty Sark, IFS cable car, Tate Modern, Millennium Bridge, National Theatre, HMS Belfast, Tower of London, Tower Bridge etc – a real treat for lovers of our capital city and historians alike.

Many in the Club are passionate about boating in all its forms, so 24 years ago it was decided to run an early season trip along the beautiful Menai Straits to both test the boats after winter storage and to have some fun.

This was run for many years with other BSAC Clubs joining us from all over the country and raising many thousands of pounds for the RNLI.

Our friends in the South were so impressed by our hugely successful event that BSAC Eastern Region decided to have one of their own to both celebrate BSAC’s 70th anniversary and also to raise money for the RNLI.

If this trip appeals to you, or you have any questions, please let Paul know.  There is a limit is 9 on the boat and a £20 deposit would be needed to confirm a place.
