Gallipoli, Turkey: 26th April - 4th May 2025

Steve is running a trip to The Dardanelles, Turkey to dive the wrecks in Gallipoli. Tourism officials have transformed the century-old wrecks in the Dardenelles Strait into an underwater museum. The ships sank in 1915 during conflict in World War I.   Some of the wrecks have been heavily salvaged.

The trip includes transfers from Istanbul to Eceabat, transfers to and from the dive boat, full board (lunch on the boat). We plan to get 10 dives in over the week.

The hotel details are here:   https://www.tjshotel.com/   Single rooms are available for an additional fee

The boat has 6 aluminium twin sets of aluminium, 6x 15 litre steel, and  81x 12 litre steel cylinders. Air fills only, no nitrox.  Dry suits recommended.

After diving (if the day is not over) the following excursions are included FOC: War Trenches, Conk Bayırı, 57th Regiment, Mehmetçik Lighthouse, Martyrs Monument

On the final non-diving day an excursion to the Ancient City of Troy and the Troy Museum is available for a fee person (including lunch).

More information on the wrecks and other dives can be found here:

Qualification: The trip is aimed at experienced sports divers and above. You need to have the equivalent of a gold level in buoyancy and trim, and be recognised as competent in releasing DSMB’s mid water, potentially in current. (Some wrecks do have a lot of current running on them, so this is not a trip for the inexperienced).

Flights: You need to book your own flights.  Air flights are direct from Manchester to Istanbul, currently via Pegasus Airlines.  We will be met at the airport by TJ’s Tour Agency and driven to the hotel in Eceabat (3.5 hours drive).

Cost:  The trip cost is 1640€ per head for 6+ divers, reducing to 1350€ for 12+ divers.

A 35% deposit is needed to book a place.

Price includes accommodation, meals, airport pick up and there are the occasional trips out to the surrounding area post diving listed in the details below. The ancient city of Troy is not too far away so we can visit that on the rest day before we fly home.

With more then 10 divers the boat is all ours, we can accept up to 20 divers. If we have less the trip may still run but costs increase.

As always once you sign up you are liable for the full cost or for finding someone else to take your place.  Insurance is a good idea.
